Question: What do you get when you mix a super-sized helping of twisty, flowing downhill with a bit of climbing, all set within a luscious garden of winding singletrack resurrected amid the long-forgotten trails of Belcarra?

Answer: the John Henry West Coast Super D

Legendary BC mountain biking supporters John Henry Bikes, Race Face, Ryders Eyewear, Schwalbe Tires, and Norco are combining with event organizer West Coast Racing to help bring you a heap of swag and prizes.

The Canadian Pacific Trails Association which has built and maintained this trail network for over 30 years is graciously supporting the use of the trails for this event. You can expect to see motorcycles on the trails if you are exploring the area prior to race day, and also on the event day itself (except on the actual course route).

How much?  Until Apr. 12/2010 we have early bird fees of only $15 for pre-registered riders who have a Cycling BC Citizen or UCI license ($5 discount applied during registration process), or only $20 for non-licensed riders.  You read it right - you can race for as little as 15 buckaroos.  WCR is your solution to beat the economy, bringing you great racing at a great price.  200 spots available first-come, first-served. Prices go up by $10 on Apr. 13/2010 after early bird closes, with pre-reg closing on 10:00am on Apr. 16, 2010 but race day registration still available on site.

Can I register day of? Day of registration planned at $25 for licensed riders or $30 for non-licensed riders, but don't count on spaces being available.  Pre-reg for your best chance at scooping 1 of the 200 available spots.

Don't have a race license?  No problem. One-day insurance is included in the basic registration cost, or choose $30 option for one-day extra medical coverage. If you want to get a Cycling BC Citizen race license or UCI race license, CLICK HERE.

What type of bike do I need? If it's a mountain bike with knobbies, you've got all you need.  Hardtails or full-on DH rigs, it doesn't really matter, although we're guessing the sweet spot will be a 4"-6" full susser.  Full face helmet and/or armour recommended for safety, but not required (optional at rider's discretion)

What type of rider is it suited for? We like to refer to the course as the "great equalizer". To leave vapour trails you'll want to bring your "A" game on the skills side, plus be able to punch the pedals when it counts.

Course Info/Estimated times: New course for this year!  Look for more burly singletrack, plus the biggest climb from last year's course is GONE!  Fast times expected to be 12-15 minutes per run.  Show up for a couple of practice runs on race day to double or triple your dose of singletrack goodness.  Course will be marked for race day only.  NOTE: "Self-guided" changes to the course, including but not limited to moving of tape, rocks, logs, modifying or building lines or features will mean the immediate end of your race day, since we are guests of the CPTA, BC Hydro, and GRVD at this venue.
