Cardiac Classic 2014 

Provincial XC MTB Championships
 
Sunday August 10th, 2014:

UniverCity and Burnaby Mountain, BC

 

You’ve been asking for it and we’ve obliged. The Cardiac Classic is back in 2014 and this year it will play host to the 2014 Provincial XC mtb championships on behalf of Cycling BC. You don’t have to be a lycra clad racer type to participate. Our event will have opportunities for everyone to have fun and challenge themselves. The Cardiac Classic is cohosted by Mighty Riders and West Coast Cycling with support from Cycling BC due to it being a provincial championship.

Highlights for 2014:
 
  1.  All riders welcome! Everyone will be able to race in new age categories for both championship and challenge categories.
  2.  Complimentary kids event in the heart of UniverCity: The legendary Jay Hoots is designing a bike park in UniverCity that will play host to our super fun kids events for all those little rippers riding run bikes and up
  3.  Lots of options: We will again have 1, 2 and 3 lap options for riders to challenge themselves.
  4.  BBQ: Provided by Nesters Market- SFU
  5.  An improved start: We are working on improving the start so there is more spacing going into the trails!
  6. We are also are excited to announce that Boreale Mountain Biking has graciously contributed a grand draw prize for the Cardiac Classic
    • A Yukon Winter Escape for 2 people!!
    • 3 nights Boréale lodge accommodations
    • 3 days meals all-inclusive
    • Airport transfers
    • 3 day passes at Mount MacIntyre Cross Country Ski Recreation Centre
    • To be entered in the draw you must pre-register in any category, BC Provincial Championship or Citizen Challenge, for the Cardiac Classic.  Deadline is Friday, August 8th @ 9pm.

  • 8:30am - 10:00am Registration (closes 30 minutes prior to start)
  • 9:30am - Kids Race, 9 & Under
  • 10:15am - Race staging
  • 10:30am - Race start (all categories)
  • 12:00pm - 2:00pm BBQ
  • 1:30pm - Awards

Race Categories:

 

Citizen challenge races(for those who don’t have a license or citizen license only)
 
1,2,3 lap options with the following categories for Male/Female
  • U19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50+
Please note:  
  • Must be at least 5 registered riders in each category or organizers reserve the right to combine categories.
  • This is a challenging course, and each lap may take the average rider 60 to 75 minutes. Please choose the number of laps accordingly.
 
Championship categories (for those who hold a UCI license)
 
  • U13: 1 lap
  • U15: 1 lap
  • U17: 2 laps
  • U19: 2 laps
  • 30-39 Female: 2 laps
  • 40+ Female: 2 laps
  • Elite Female: 3 laps
  • 30-39 Male: 3laps
  • 40+ Male: 3 laps
  • 50+ Male: 2laps
  • Elite Male: 3 laps
Registration and Entry Fees
 
Online registration OPEN.
  • $50.00  - Elite
  • $40.00  - Everyone else (championship & citizen) except ….
  • $30.00  - U17 & U15 & U13
 
Day of registration: $10 surcharge to register day of event
 
Special Offer for Unlicensed riders: In an effort to showcase the sport of XC mtb the organizers, WCC and Mighty Riders have decided to cover the cost of single day licenses. We believe this will entice riders from across the lower mainland and province to come out and race and perhaps lead them to consider the purchase of a cycling BC race license. What does this mean? Riders without a license will have the $10/ single day license covered by the organizers
